50 s in the University History and the Impacts of 27th May Military Coup

The year of 1946 in the history of the University and the Law no. 4936 which came into force and the movements between 1946 and 1960 were very important. Political debates over the university, contradictory assesments and comments about the Autonomy of the University were creating tension. As Turkey was leaving behind SO s and reaching to 60 s with this temper, the university students were starting to activate. Simple incidents were being exaggerated, strained and complicated; many governmental bodies were being exposed to each other. Faculty members memberships and activities for the political parties in SO s, were counted as the reasons to be dismissed from the academic world; with the enacment of Law no. 114 in 1960 s; being infonned against to National Unity Committe members by their students, colleagues and teachers; 147 esteemed faculty members have been dismissed without having any right of appeal to return the university. It should be stated that university autonomy is not the only problem of 1947 s, 1950 s, even today it has not been solved yet.
