Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the orientalistic discourse on western work and organization literature that is mainly developed by classifying and categorizing societies according to western normative predicatements in related areas. I consider orientalism as a product of capitalism, the interest of West to the “other”, a concept to go along with an attempt to gain profits. The orientalist trends whose bases were formed from the beginnings of the classical sociological tradition are crystallized in terms of the similarities and differences especially after the second half of the 20th century. The postcolonial discourse on work and organization literature is an important step in the concern of so called “the other”, the voice of the other and subaltern. Regarding the work and organizational literature, instead of studies related with the generation of hierarchical classification in which societies may take place in some different levels, some new approaches are urgently needed which will take pecularities and diversities into account and be far from the colonization of mentality.
