Perceptions and Attitudes of European Societies towards Migration: A Sociological Perspective
Abstract :
European countries have become migration countries as a result of series of migrations which took place after World War II. Although there have been tendency ofrise and fall in the migration traffic in time, migrations have always been a continuous fact between countries. Based on this fact European countries developed selective, and from time to time even prohibitive policies, where as it have not been possible to prevent the migration in the globalizing world. There is a necessity to develop a sociological perspective for migration policies which are tied to the county’s social and economic progress. Not only does this concern European countries but also European societies started to act more skeptic and precautious against migration. Underneath this kind of behavior, there lies the possible negative result of migration.
