İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu is first representatives of modern pedagogy in Turkey. He has written very important books and articles about sociology and pedagogy. His ideas about sociology and pedagogy has been analyzed and criticized by many researchers. No doubt Baltacıoğlu’s opinion about sociology and pedagogy has been a source of inspiration for the next generation of pedagogies and sociologists. In my article, I will be drawn attention to a little-known aspect about Baltacıoğlu. During the period between 1943 and 1950, as a member of parliament, he made very important speeches in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey about draining of the marshes and the protection of forests. He suggested bonification to marshes rather than draining. It has been tried to discuss this conversations about his environmental sensitivity in this article.
