Abstract :
Uncertainties in the political, economic and social spheres of the new independent Russian society in the 1990s were replaced with the consensus in the Kremlin’s foreign policy strategies in international system since the beginning of 2000s. Russian foreign policy toward to its so-called Near Abroad geographies in the post-Soviet South Caucasus and Central Asian regions since the Vladimir Putin’s presidency period became more realistic compared to its predecessors. Russian foreign policy doctrines in the last ten years define clearly borders of the foreign policy aims of the Kremlin’s administration toward the post-Soviet countries, where as a one of the main goals is emphasized to force the region countries for a new integration under the Russian leadership, and to keep out any third regional or global power from its sphere of influence. Article aims to analyze the problems of the Russian foreign policy toward the region countries. Particularly, after the August war in 2008 between Russia and Georgia, as well as since the proclamation of the Eurasian Union Project by Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin has gained consequential influence over the South Caucasus and Central Asian countries. New geopolitical clash called as the New Great Game over the South Caucasus and Central Asian regions defines clearly how Russia tries to get its place as a super power in the international scene and why she prefers aggressive policies in its bilateral relations with the mentioned region countries.
