Abstract
Primary gastrointestinal lymphoma is the most common form of extranodal lymphoma but it is a rare tumor of gastrointestinal tract. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common colonic lymphoma and most frequently observed in cecum. We describe a rare case of cecal lymphoma presenting as acute abdomen and also with synchronous liver metastasis.A 63-year-old male with a 3 week history of abdominal pain, diarrhea and palpable mass at right lower quadrant referred to our hospital. Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scan revealed a cecal mass. Patient had an operation due to rapid worsening of his condition. Cecal mass and two liver metastasis observed at operation and right hemicolectomy and metastasectomy were performed. Surgically resected specimens were all immunohistochemically diagnosed as B-cell lymphoma. Patient died due to pneumonia and ARDS at postoperative 13th day.Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are the main treatment options for primary gastrointestinal lymphoma but which one priority is debatable.
