Abstract :
Self-regulation skills of individuals in learning process occupy an important place. Self-regulation includes many components such as increasing cognitive function in line with individuals own objectives and strategies, the regulation of working conditions, orientation of environmental conditions. In short, self-regulation skills are the key aspects for learning the learning. Self-regulation skills can be used in both academic way and in every period of life quite effectively.This review aims to provide summary information about self-regulation skills that are important in terms of contribution to individuals lifelong learning. In this review definitions of self regulated learning, concept of metacognition, models of self regulated learning and models which are based on the theories, characteristics of individuals capable of self regulated learning and role of the educator are considered.
