Abstract :
This study was aimed to find out the suggestions of teachers and directors at the practicing schools in Denizli city center about the ‘teaching practice’. It was designed in terms of qualitative research methodology. 22 practicing schools were selected based on the purposive sampling method. Subsequently, 670 teachers and 22 directors from these schools were voluntarily involved in this study. They were administered a semistructured questionnaire and the data gathered were analyzed in terms of the rules of content analysis. The themes derived from the data were; suggestions related to the effectiveness of the process, suggestions about effective faculty-school cooperation, and suggestions about the period of practice. The results of the study showed that teachers and directors made suggestions as pre-service teachers should work with the same class more than one day, the number of pre-service teachers for each teacher should be decreased and cooperation between members of faculty and schools should be provided. Furthermore, it was suggested the period of this lesson should be extended to either more lessons within a week or two terms in a year. In terms of the results it can be recommended that cooperation between members of faculty and schools directors should be improved and the re-construction of the lesson to provide effectiveness should be organized.
