An Alternative Approach to Budget Management in University: Participatory Budgeting

The aim of this study is to reveal university / faculty managers and university components’ (student, teaching staff, and administrative staff) opinions about participatory budgeting. In this research qualitative research method was used to describe university / faculty managers and university components (student, teaching staff, and administrative staff) opinions about participatory budgeting. Interviews were made as a part of qualitative research method. Working group is composed of totally 66 members from Ankara, Balıkesir and Erzincan Universities. Semi-structured interview forms developed by researcher were applied as data collection tools. Collected data in interviews were applied descriptive analysis technique. When we take participants as a whole, the majority want participatory budget to be carried out at the universities.
