  • Abstract
Maxine Hong Kingston’s The Woman Warrior is divided into five stories. The first story is about a sexually abused woman who has not any rights to speak about it. In the second story the writer imagines herself as a Chinese woman warrior who is a legend. The next story is about writer’s mother’s experiences in Chinese medical school. In the fourth story there are adventures of writer’s aunt after she comes to the United States from China hoping to meet her husband who is now married to another woman. In the final story Maxine Hong Kingston describes her childhood experiences in the California public school system, and her parents’ attitudes towards her. In China food has a great importance in the culture. This study focuses on the roles of food and women indirectly in these five stories.
