THE IMPACT OF VOTER BEHAVIOR OF CANDIATE PREFERENCES, CASE OF 2009 UŞAK LOCAL ELECTION

The most significant instrument related with democracy identified as people who govern themselves is the election mechanism. This election system plays a key point for both shaping the general state and local administration body. Local elections (especially Mayor Election) are different from general elections with respect to the people’s preferences based on objective criteria. Political party candidate preferences are much more important in comparison to the party programs in general. The main aim of this study is to evaluate party’s candidates’ preferences that influence voters’ behaviours by giving the example of 2009 local elections in Uşak province. Study, also to bring to an end regarding the Parties candidates’ preferences by getting the information from the polls and face-to-face interview technique are applied to both Uşak Municipality Council and Uşak General Assembly members.
