STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to examine students’ attitude toward scientific research in the faculty of education. 417 students enrolled at Muş Alparslan University during the 2012-13 academic year participated in the study. The survey research method was used in this study. The study was a descriptive survey. Data were collected with a scale called “Scale of attitude towards scientific research” developed by Korkmaz, Şahin ve Yeşil (2011). The Cronbach Alpha value of the scale found to be 0.85. SPSS were used for the analysis of the data. Data analysis involved calculation of descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, min, max, frequency and percentile), Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H and Bonferroni tests (p 0,05). As a result: Students’ attitude toward scientific researches levels are “middle” according to all the factors. Students’ attitudes are significantly different according to departments except “Positive Attitude toward Researches” factor. Students’ attitudes are significantly different according to genders for “Positive Attitude toward scientific research” factor. And also students’ attitudes are significantly different according to class level “Negative Attitude toward Researches” factor.
