Abstract :
This study examines psychical features, practices about usage and development and problems of state and private preschools in Denizli. Totally 26 preschools participated in this study. A survey including 43 items designed by Chancellor was answered by school principals. According to the results, both of the preschool types have natural elements in their school grounds insufficiently. The number of private preschools which have written rules of school ground is more than the state preschools. However, these rules established by the school principals in many private preschools. Moreover, state preschools collaborate with community more than private preschools, but children’s voices are not often heard in the planning process in both of the preschool types. School grounds are considered as learning environments however cognitive development is not aimed compared to other developmental areas. Results are discussed in the light of literature and recommendations are made respectively.
