Title Of Article :
AN EMPIRICAL STUDY EXPLORING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORKAHOLISM AND BURNOUT AMONG WHITE COLLAR WORKERS
Abstract :
Despite the incontestable negative consequences of workaholism, most organizations provide incentives and establish reward systems that encourage workaholic behavior. The recognition of workaholism as a problem largely depends on the existence of a clear and stable definition as well as a reliable measurement instrument of workaholism in terms of its negative outcomes. WAQ Workaholism Analysis Questionnaire (Aziz et.al., 2013) is a recently validated survey instrument that assesses workaholism as a strong internal drive to work which may lead to the pathological result of work-life imbalance. This study tests the literature-based hypotheses regarding the relationship between workaholism and burnout via WAQ-using survey study conducted on 191 Turkish white-collars, as a result of which a positive link was discerned. The observed population was also analyzed in terms of demographical variables that were attested to be influential on the appertaining relationship.
