GENDER - POLITICAL PARTICIPATION RELATIONSHIP: SDU CASE
Abstract :
Political participation is an important tool for ensuring the legitimacy of the power. It is known that political participation is influenced by many factors such as age, gender, education, profession, income. Among these factors gender which has long been discussed has an especial importance. On the basis of gender, traditional society structure and some negative features which is attributed to women causes differences in political participation behavior. This case and its reasons have became subject of the a lot of study. The aim of this study examines the relationship between political participation and gender. Political participation is dependent variable and gender is independent variable in this study. In this context, this study was applied between 800 students of the Suleyman Demirel University. As a result, a significant and positive relationship was found between these variables.
