Abstract :
In the history of Cyprus, the issue of Alevism has been the subject of debate many times. This study examines the different arguments in understanding the Islam of Turkish Cypriots after the conquest of Cyprus in 1571 by the Ottoman Empire of the Turkish Cypriots migration in 1572. As a section of the Turkish Cypriots defend that they are Alevi in origin, the other section of Turkish Cypriots understanding of Islam is influenced by an impact of mystical ascendancy. In another opinion, Turkish Cypriots have put forward that the understanding of Islam was shaped by the political atitudes throughout history. Following, is the examination of controversial Alevism on how the press of North Cyprus’ three most widely followed newspapers have handled and shown the practice of communication from the perspective of Cyprus. Primarily, how the press have situated the agenda of Alevism is examined. The manner of reporting news were examined in the direction of the general editorial policy of the media with the news related to the subject. The result of two and a half years of scanning electronic archive reports on the Alevi, the present mind on understanding the affairs of Alevism influencing factor in North Cyprus has been attempted by a means of quantitative and qualitative content analysis, examining the meanings that can be inferred from the news. The news was read in the triangle of media, government and religion.
