EVALUATION OF ALEVI WOMAN CLOTHING IN BANAZ AND YAGLIDERE VILLAGES OF SIVAS PROVINCE YILDIZELI DISTRICT

Clothing of people depends on geographical structure, economic conditions, and fashion sense, level of technology usage, traditions and belief system. Influences of traditional, geographical, economic and religious factors on clothing are obvious in less populated settlements. For that reason there are some effects on Alawi woman clothing of Banaz and Yağlıdere Villages of Sivas Province Yıldızeli District. In November 2011 a visit was carried out to determine and introduce Alawi woman clothing which is still being used in these villages. The survey method has been used for the research. Observations, interviews with local people and civil servants who work for the District Management and Skill Teaching School For Local People, photographs and literature are the sources for the method of the research. The properties of Alawi woman clothing in two villages have been compared in the conclusion part of the research. It has been concluded that even if Alawi woman clothing of these two villages is not the same, the local people continue to preserve their culture. It has also been concluded that the regional clothing which is one of the cultural elements is being used in Banaz Village on special days while the regional clothing is still being used in Yağlıdere Village both daily and on special days.
