Abstract :
In terms of tradition of statehood and organization of government, the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum carries the traces of the Great Seljuk Sultanate and the preceding Turkish-Islamic states. However,it is also seen that some new practices based on its era, location and historical experiences existed. The greater part of those new practices is that they consist of perfection and reinterpretation of the establishments existing in the previous Turkish-Islamic states. On the other hand, some practices are new mainstream practices or different applications which emerged as a result of the mutual relations the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum had had with the new cultures and civilizations and mainly those practices are results of adaptation process to the era and locations. One of those new mainstream practices and different applications seen in the Seljuks of Rum is also the system of recruiting mercenaries. Those mercenaries were termed by ̄bn BibÎ as leşker-i hadÎs which meant new army and recorded with the names ecrÎhor
