The subject of this article is Ceride-i Gavamiz, one of the booklets written by the Sheikh of Bektashi Ahiscanian Hırmendar Gamizi Ali Baba, who lived in the second half of the 19th century. Besides, in this booklet there are several works of Gamizi Ali Baba. For instance, another booklet named Gamizi’l-Acaib, some works called Tercuman-name composed of the letters dedicated to his chela Muderris Kemal Bey, and some letters and other booklets enlisted as Munsheat. If we think of a modern name for Ceride-i Gavamiz, we can call it as The Record of Secrets. In that work, with his expression, Gamizi Ali Baba learns the stages of genesis phenomenon, the idiosyncratic situation of objects, the nature of nafs and soul and the connection between them, the maddened holy people, and finally the significance of the letters. In the aforesaid booklet, Gamizi Ali Baba scrutinizingly stated the information he received at the end of this transcendental travel, with a symbolic language. Another important feature of the booklet is the expression of the sufistic terms. Ceride-i Gavamiz can be estimated as a prosaic shathiya. Because the work has both several indications seeming equivocal and meaningless at the first look, and conception tunnels which become deeper with more reflection. Our aim for writing this article is to convey the story transmitted within that narrative setup and try to apprehend the terms as well.
