Abstract :
In this article, we tried to identify relationship between Dedelik (Male Alawi Leaders) concept and Ozan (Traditional minstrel) tradition that has vital importance to keep alive of the Alawi tradition and transfer it to next generations. Dedelik is in the center of individual and social life in traditional Alawi communities. Dede means Alawi community leader who performs religious and social functions. Most of Alawi Traditional minstrels (Ozan) have visited Alawi villages for centuries up to this time and they arranged religious and daily problems of Alawi societies. Sivas is one of powerful cities of traditional Alawi minstrelsy. Most of the minstrels (Ozan) in Sivas belong to Alawi-Bektashi tradition. Sivas became as a traditional Alawi minstrel center (Ozanlar Ocağı or Aşıklar Yatağı). Certainly, there is a separate effect of Alawi-Bektashi tradition to remember Sivas with these names. We tried to identify sociological relationship between the Dede Concept and the Alawi Minstrelsy with the examples of some Alawi community leaders (Dede) living in Kangal District, (Kangal is a very important place for traditional Alawi minstrelsy). They are Seyit Mahzunî Dede, Suzanî Dede, Kurt Veli Dede, Hasan Fehmi Kusurî Dede and Musa Karakaş Dede.
