Abstract :
The beliefs and philosphy systems of Alevis are decisive on their lives, approaches to women and child education. This research reveals general facts of Alevian family status in traditional culture and child upbringing. In this research, it was aimed to determine the place of women in Alevism. Bektashi customs, traditional Alevian-Bektashi family life and bringing up children in accordance with Alevian beliefs. Not only Alevian belief was put forward as a set of beliefs and rituals, but also as a social fact, the subject of family, woman and bringing up children were evaluated in terms of social and cultural perspectives. The data gathered following the research give significant clues about family, woman and bringing up children in Alevian culture. At the same time, giving a name to children and some types of traditional practices were also stated in Alevi-Bektashi faith. The research studies conducted in our country are inadequate in terms of life experiences in Alevian tradition, the status of women and bringing up children in accordance with Alevian beliefs. In order to be able to attain information about bringing up a child in Alevian tradition, the determinant social structures in bringing up a child, social interactions, family structures, understanding of bringing up a child, family attitudes towards a child, social and educational situations of families were evaluated under the scope of this research.
