Abstract :
Nowadays, the groundcover plants are commonly used for aesthetics and functional aims in landscape plantation design. Grass plants in Poaceae family are the most important of groundcover plants. In contrary, there are very much other herbaceous and woody groundcovers which have more aesthetics and functional characteristics and easy or cheap in establishment ve maintenance than grass plants. Although Isparta province has very rich flora, this plants haven’t been used or known commonly. Therefore, it is very important to determining their characteristics and using for landscape aims of natural groundcover plants. In this study, some naturel groundcover plants (total 15 plants) in Isparta region were estabilished to parcels in Süleyman Demirel Botanical Gardens. It was realized some processes include vitality percentage, plant height, crown diameter and its characteristics on total 27 number for each groundcover plant. As a result, it was determined ideal natural groundcover plants include “Thymus zygioides var zygioides, Pilosella hoppeana, Bolanthus minuartioides, Medicago lupulina, Ajuga chamaepitys subsp chia var. chia, Trifolium repens, Lotus corniculatus L. var. tenifolius, Helichryssum plicatum subsp plicatum, Festuca pinifolia, Primula veris L. subsp macrocalyx, Salvia tomentosa and Vinca herbacea “ for aesthetics and functional aims or their adaptation in Isparta conditions.
