The Effect on Students Academic Achievement of Cooperative Learning Model in Pratic of Science and Technology Course
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of reading-writing-application and learning together technique, on academic achievements of seven grade students attending the classes in which the laboratory experiments in science and technology course. The sample of this study consist of 75 seventh grade students who attended the classes in which the laboratory experiments in science and technology were taught in an elementary school during the 2011-2012 academic years. As the data collection instruments, Laboratory Preliminary Achievement Test (LPAT), Laboratory Achievement Test (LAT), Theory Achievement Tests (TAT), Experiment Achievement Tests (EAT). This study is carried out three different groups. One of the groups was selected randomly as the Reading Writing Application Group (RWAG) ) in which the Reading Writing Application method, the second was selected as the Learning Together Group (LTG) in which the Learning Together method and the third was selected as the Control Group (CG) in which the traditional teaching method was applied. The data obtained on instruments were evaluated by using descriptive statistics, one-way ANCOVA , multivariate analysis MANOVA and multiple comparison test. The results of this study indicate that the teaching of laboratory experiments in science and technology course the Reading-Writing-Application and Learning Together techniques was more effective than the traditional teaching method in increasing academic achievement. In addition, the students from the group in which the Reading-Writing- Application method used were more successful in the laboratory skills
