AN ANALYSIS OF RELATION BETWEEN OF PEDAGOGICAL FORMATION PROGRAM PRE SERVICE TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD THE TEACHING PROFESSION AND THEIR PROFESSIONAL SELF EFFICACY
Abstract :
This study aims to analysis of relation between of pedagogical formation program pre-service teachers’ attitudes toward the teaching profession and their professional self-efficacy. It was carried out during the 2015-2016 school year among 263 pedagogical formation program pre-service teachers’ attending public university in the Aegean region of Turkey. The study’s data were collected using tools: “Attitude Scale Toward Teaching as a Profession” and “Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale”. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics. Furthermore, in order to determine the correlation between pedagogical formation program students’ scores on the Attitude Scale Toward Teaching as a Profession and their scores on the Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy scale, Sperman-Brown rank order correlation analysis was employed. The findings showed that the participants had an attitude toward teaching as a profession and their teachers’ sense of efficacy was high. It was also found that, there is a meaning positive and moderate relationship between the participants an attitude toward teaching as a profession and their teachers’ sense of efficacy. Based on the findings obtained, it may be suggested to investigate the reasons for the high level of self-efficacy of the science-literary faculty graduates who have not taken any course in educational sciences throughout their undergraduate studies.
