AN UNTHOUGHT CONDITION: AMYAND HERNIA
Abstract :
While normal appendix existence in inguinal hernia sac is below 1%, appendicitis existence together with inguinal hernia is a very rare condition. The diagnosis of this pathology defined as Amyand hernia is usually made intraoperatively. We present a 55 year old male patient with Amyand hernia operated with the diagnosis of incarcerated hernia and has inflamated and edematous appandix in the sac. Acute appendicits together with Amyand hernia may threaten life and needs urgent surgical intervention. When preoperative diagnosis is made, appendectomy from herniotomy should be preferred.
