Title Of Article :
THE EFFECT OF EXPOSURE PARAMETERS ON THE RADIOPACITY OF ROOT CANAL SEALERS
Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate change in radiopacity of two root canal sealers with the change in exposure parameters (kilovoltage, milliampere and exposure time) using conventional film radiography. Material and Method: The root canal sealers used were Diaket and MM Seal. Standard disks of 2 different sealers were exposed together with an aluminum (Al) step wedge by using a D-speed occlusal film. Each sample was radiographed using 60 and 70 kVp, 7 and 8 mA with three different exposure times (0.40, 0.50, 0.60 s). Optical density of the sealers and the Al step- wedge was evaluated by transmission densitometry, The radiographic density of each specimen was measured and correlated with the equivalent thickness of aluminum. Three-way analysis of variance was used to compare the differences between groups (p=0.05). Results: No significant differences were found in radiopacities of sealers with respect to different kVp, mA and exposures used in this study (p 0.05). At all radiologic parameters used in this study MM Seal was more radiopaque than Diaket (p 0.05). Conclusion: Varying the kVp, mA and exposure time did not significantly affect the radiographic density of Diaket and MM Seal.
