Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of ozone combined with remineralizing solution and patient kit on initial fissure caries lesions. Material and Method: 21 children with ages ranging between 12-15 years, having laser fluorescence system (Diagnodent) scores between 10- 30 on bilateral permanent mandibular 1. molar teeth were participated in the study. Patients were randomly allocated to 3 groups consisting of 7 subjects. In the first group, patients were instructed to use a standard toothbrush and toothpaste without any other application (control). In the second group, ozone (HealOzone) was applied for 40 seconds and remineralizing solution (pH Balancer, CurOzone) was used whereas in the third group patients were instructed to use patient kit (Re-Mineralizing Patient Kit, CurOzone) following the same procedure of second group. At baseline, immediately after treatment and at 1 month follow-up Diagnodent measurements were taken to determine the remineralization, the salivary buffer capacity and S.Mutans-Lactobacillus counts were detected by CRT Buffer and Bacteria Test. The results were analyzed statistically by using Friedman and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: Statistically significant difference was found among the groups (p 0.05).Within the time period, ozone treatment combined with remineralizing solution and especially patient kit usage was found to be more effective on the remineralization of initial fissure caries lesions and salivary S. Mutans-Lactobacillus counts. Conclusion: The remineralization process of initial fissure caries lesions can be supported by ozone treatment combined with remineralizing solution and patient kit.
