Abstract :
Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a hyperglycemia, which could not be diagnosed with diabetes and characterized by higher levels of blood glucose during pregnancy period. Ignoring the diagnosis and treatment of GDM might end up increasing level of morbidity and mortality. Controlling the blood glucose level regularly decreases rate of malformation and perinatal mortality. However diet and exercises are the first treatments of GDM, insulin treatment could be required when diet and exercises become insufficient. Plants have been using for thousands of years as prophylactically and therapeutically against several of the diseases in public. In this study, it is aimed to discuss that the most commonly used plant in Turkey for the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus according to ethnobotanical studies and their usage condition on GDM
