Transnational Migration from Russia to Turkey: Russian Migrants in Antalya
Abstract :
The information accelerated by the processes of the globalization and the human dynamism and the new ways of practical living created by the political, economical and the structure of the environment changes occurred after the dissolution of the Soviet Union cause different immigrant groups heading to Turkey and raise the number of the immigrants. Antalya, one the most important touristic city of Turkey has become a popular target of the immigrants internationally soon after the 2000’s. In this context, it is remarkable that throughout all the foreign population living in Antalya, the visibility of Russians in the social life is quite increasing. In the researches concerning about the foreign habitants who live in Turkey, the absence of the specific researches which contains only about the Russian immigrants directly is the main reason of this study. By giving out the fundamental qualifications of the Russian contribution to international literature of immigration and the characteristics of the process of the information give hints about the politics concerning the immigrants. The research is based on the verity of the field research which was practiced between 2007-2010 in Antalya and various information provided from institutions. This labour movement out of the borders of Russia to Antalya is mostly supported by the participation of single young women. According to the information gathered, the intensity of the immigration to Antalya is envisioned to increase.
