Abstract :
The antic city of Patara, was one of the six major cities of Lycian civilization in ancient times. It was an important harbour city and a famous oracle centre. Remains of an arched structure were found during archaeological excavations in the Kisik gorge, to the north of Patara. It has been a topic of discussion. There are several ideas about the origin and function of the structure. While some archaeologists believe that the structure is of a bridge, the others suppose that it belongs to vestibules of the temple of Apollo of the important oracle centre. In this paper, origin of the structure will be interpreted in the light of paleogeographical and geoarchaeological evidence
