Abstract :
Mobbing has appeared in work environments in parallel with harder inter-employee competition and increased level of human interaction. These behaviors affect employees, organization and the society in general terms causing several negative outcomes. In work life many factors influence how people are exposed to mobbing and how they are affected form it. Individual’s personality is believed to be an important factor explaining person’s situation as victim in mobbing and his configuration style with impacts of mobbing. In this framework, this study questions whether mobbing differs according to personality. Type A and Type B personality scales were used to define individual’ personality. Data were collected from employees of five star hotels operating in Izmir. Research findings indicate that “self demonstrative attacks” and “attacks targeting social relations” change regarding to individual’s personality (Type A and Type B) traits.
