    An Investigation on Gyrodactylus (Monogenoidea, Platyhelminthes) Infection of Cyprinus carpio L. from Lake Manyas (Bandırma)

  • Abstract
    In this study, presences fauna of Gyrodactylus on 159 Cyprinus carpio from Lake Manyas, Turkey were investigated between January 1997 and November 1998. One Gyrodactylus species was identified on gills of the host fish. The species is Gyrodactylus scardinii Malmberg, 1957. The characteristic structure of this parasite species was described and shown in figures. In addition, minimum-maximum and mean intensity of parasites and infection prevalence were determined using seasonal data and size distribution of the host fish.
