Abstract :
All around the world and also in our country hydrated lime has been increasingly extending in usage for preventing and rehabilitating environmental pollution in terms of municipal water treatment, household and industrial waste water purification, waste mud handling, flue gas desulphurization, solid waste reclamation etc. With the developing technology, the demand for very fine ( 10 μm) and ultra fine ( 1 μm) lime has increased in chemical, environment, food, agriculture applications, rubber and plastics industrial areas and thermal reactors. Therefore, lime should be ground to micronized size, in other words size reduction processes should be applied to it. In this present study, dry grinding process parameters optimized to grinding hydrated lime under 10 μm from 1 mm produced by Adaçal lime factory; the physical and physico chmical properties of micronized lime such as particle size, whiteness, porosity activation, specific surface area, bulk density compared with the properties of hydrated lime was fed to the mill. As a result of optimization of the critical mill speed, ball charge, material charge and grinding time can be reduced only 57% under 10 μm hydrated lime which feed size is 1 mm, and ball charge and grinding time were determined as the effective key parameters of grinding.
