Title Of Article :
Evaluation of Efficiencies of Hospitals in Afyonkarahisar Using Data Envelopment Analysis
Abstract :
This study aims to determine efficiency levels of the hospitals in Afyonkarahisar affiliated to the ministry of health using data envelopment analysis (DEA). Data envelopment analysis, a nonparametric efficiency measurement method, reveals more realistic and accurate results than the other efficiency measurement methods. Therefore, data envelopment analysis technique is preferred in this study. This study includes data provided by Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of Health for the hospitals affiliated to the ministry of health for the year 2011. Hospital management has power to control inputs however the power of control over outcomes is weak. For this reason, aiming to minimize the inputs, based on the assumption of constant returns to scale, input oriented Charnes Cooper Rhodes (CCR) model was used. The established model is solved using WinQSB ve EMS programs. As a result of the analysis, 8 hospitals was found to be effective with 100% efficiency score.
