The Effect of Various Alumina Based Agregates on Physical and Mechanical Properties of High Alumina Castable Refractory
Abstract :
In this study, it was investigated effect of tabular alümina (TA), white fused alümina (WFA) and mixtures (%50 TA+ % 50 WFA) of them as agrega on physical and mechanical properties of high alumina castable refractory which especially use in steel ladle industries. For this aim, particle size fraction and amount of refractory constituent were determined depend on q values in Andreasan’s model to be 0.30 and experimental samples from these mixtures were prepared by sintering at 1530 oC for 8 hours. Prepared samples from these compositions as green and sintered were subjected to physical and mechanical tests. Characterization results are analyzed, the castables with tabular alumina has lower porosity and water adsorption and also higher bulk density and cold compressive strength than those of white fused alumina and mixtures of them.
