The Properties of Fe3-Nb5-B12 Based Intermetallic Composites

Abstract
In the present study, Fe-Nb-B based intermetallic materials were produced by using as atomical 15% B, 25% Nb and 60% Fe powders. The powders mixed in the attritor for 20 hours were mechanically alloyed, and shaped by uniaxial dry pressing at pressing pressure of 60 MPa. After shaping and drying, these samples were sintered at 1350°C for 120 minutes in controlled atmosphere. Some general properties of intermetallic materials produced by this way were determined by various characterization techniques. Then, these samples were exposed to corrosion test in 0,5 M NaCl. Thus, the corrosion behavior of samples was determined and the corroded surfaces were characterized by SEM.
