Production of Ti-Al-B Based Composites by Reduction Combustion Synthesis Technique
Abstract :
In this study, Ti-Al-B composites were carried out in an electrical resistance furnace in open air under the uniaxial pressure of 150 MPa at 1200°C for 4 hours, using by the reduction combustion synthesis technique. Initial powder mixture used in this study is Al+TiO2+B2O3. The X-ray diffraction analysis shown that the produced samples consist of TiB2 and Al2O3 phases. Densities of the samples were measured by using the Archimedes’ technique with a 0.0001gr sensitive balance. The relative density and micro-hardness were determined as 94.2% and 1832±496HV0.1 for the composites, respectively.
