    Flame Retardant Huntite and Hydromagnesite Nanoparticle Reinforced Polymeric Composite Coatings

  • Abstract
    Polymer materials used in most places in daily life especially in electrical and electronics sector have advantages such as lightness, chemical stability, cheapness together with disadvantages such as mechanical properties and flame resistance. In this study, flame retardant properties of paint materials were investigated and tried to be developed. In this context, composite materials were obtained by adding different amounts of environmentally friendly (hologen-free) and nanosized huntite/hydromagnesite flame retardant materials to paint materials. And then these composite materials were characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS and SEM. UL94 test standards were also performed to examine flame retardant properties of these composite materials. With the results of tests that were carried out, it was observed that flame-retardant and mechanical properties of huntite and hydromagnesite reinforced polymeric composite coatings/paints were developed.
