  • Abstract
This study includes a research in order to determine the slipping potential of the Afyon marble indifferent surface treatment and in plate size which is used as a floor covering material in areas where human is more such as hospital, bus station, subway, shopping centers, schools, industrial kitchen. In this study, the slip angels of surface‐processed marbles which are used as floor coating have been determined by DIN51130 ‘’Determination of the slip prevention attribute with lubrication of dry zone’’ and the slip resistance have been determined by TS EN 14231 ‘’Determination of the slip resistance by means of the pendulum tester’’. With the idea that there is an effect of the slipping potential, surface roughness parameters of the marble examples have been measured by surface roughness tester Mitutoyo SJ‐400 which is working according to DIN EN ISO 4287 standards. It was determined that slipping potential of the marble examples influencing parameters are the surface treatment techniques, the plate sizes and the surface roughness and statistical analyzes were performed to determine the relationship between these parameters. According to the oil‐wet conditions the slip angle which is obtained in dry environment and the values of sliding resistance has been found higher. Slip angel, slip resistance and surface roughness parameters of the marble examples usage areas have been determined by considering Rz (μm) values. As a result, walking with shoes in dry and oily floor plates has recommended to use Y3 (Ageing) surface‐treated and P1 (30.5x30.5x2x0 cm) plate size marble samples.
