Construction Details and Performance of Piled Raft Foundation
Abstract :
Safety and usability of the bearing systems of superstructure with structural safety in the course of time is dependent on foundation system and ground conditions. In this study, construction details of piled raft foundation system designed for residential building in Afyonkarahisar City center are investigated and post‐construction performance is evaluated. In the investigated project design of piled raft foundation is evaluated according to simplified piled raft calculation. Construction detail stages of piles and raft foundation system are provided and the performance level of requested load carrying capacity and settlement of the raft foundation and piles at design phase are investigated by on‐site pile loading test conducted after construction of piles. The explications and illustrations of piled raft foundation system performance and construction details will be a guide about how to evaluate on‐site tests and their results for the designer and field engineers.
