Abstract
The motional behavior of multi-storey structures with base isolation systems which were built on soft soil were analyzed via high damping rubber bearing (HDRB) in terms of their dynamic behavior in the present study. N-S component of Yarimca station of Marmara earthquake was simulated during the ground motion analyses. Superstructure and soil were modeled linearly and HDRB as non-linearly by using SAP 2000 package program. Analysis of structure-soil interaction for both with and without base isolated structures were carried out for the following parameters; periods, storey accelerations, relative displacements, base shear forces, a selected frame element axial forces, shear forces and bending moments. As a result, advantages of isolated reinforced concrete structures are shown against fixed-base structures under earthquake loading.
