Abstract :
Cutting force measurement has an importance in machining on account of appropriate examination of cutting process especially in academic researches. In this study, design and construction of a strain gauge based dynamometer was realised which is measuring cutting forces in turning and recording them by a computer. The proposed dynamometer is designed so as to minimize cross-interference and compensate temperature deviations. Tests realised under various cutting conditions showed that the proposed dynamometer could be used reliably to measure and record cutting forces in turning.
