Abstract :
With the advent of the industrial revolution housing the workforce employed in the newly founded factories emerged as a major problem. In Turkey such problems were tackled in the factories constructed by the state before 1950. The construction started in 1969, Seydi􀃺ehir Etibank Aluminium Plant and its campus have efficiently served the workers with a variety of services and activities and became not only a production plant but a social and cultural centre, as well. In our study, a spatial analysis of the council housing existing in the campus which was constructed in the third quarter of the twentieth century to meet housing and social needs of the community working at the aluminium plants was carried out. Whether a modular system was adopted in the planning of the council houses, the functional relationships, spatial structures, fullness/emptiness ratios of the facade have been determined. It has been further investigated whether the findings matched the spatial standards adopted and it was concluded that the council houses matched these standards in view of size and space and displayed adequate spatial features.
