Abstract :
Nine pearls samples different from each other as colours, shapes and sizes were taken X-ray powder diffraction patterns. Qualitative analysis of these patterns were performed by using XRD Evaluation programs according to the method of Hanawalt. According to the analysis result, aragonit (calcium carbonate) [CaCO3, PDF No: 41-1475], cesium zinc phosphate [CsZnPO4, PDF No: 45-0277], hydrazine hydrogen sulfite [N2H5HS, PDF No: 70-0922], hydrogen semicarbazid chloride [CO(NH2)NHNH3Cl, PDF No: 73-1381], nitrogen chloride [NCl3, PDF No: 70-1610], sodium hydrogen phosphate [Na5H2(PO4) (P2O7), PDF No: 77-0096], fumaric acid [C4H4O4, PDF No: 39-1838] and calsium phosphate [Ca2P2O7, PDF No: 73-0440] were found in pearls samples. Furthermore, the overlap coefficients were calculated for the substances contained in samples of pearl.
