    Determination of nutritional values of different grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) strains and varieties

  • Abstract
    In this study, 18 different sorghum genotypes obtained from Taxas A M University, ICRISAT and Western Mediterranean Agricultural Experiment Station were used. Experiments were carried out at experimental fields of Kahramanmaraş Agricultural Experiment Station for 3 years with 3 replications. The highest raw protein ratio was obtained from the variety Akdarı with 13.12%, the lowest ash ratio from ICSR 89064 with 1.29%, the lowest grain ratio from genotypes ICSR 89064, ICSR 89016 and ICSR 172 with 0.00%, the lowest ADF (Acid Detergent Fiber) ratio from ICSR 89064 with 0.06%, the lowest NDF (Neutral Detergent) from Akdarı with 18.45%, the highest digestible dry matter ratio from ICSR 89064 with 84.18% and the highest relative nutritional value was obtained from Akdarı with 407.86. Based on these results, the variety Akdarı with higher relative nutritional value and lower grain ratio and NDF value, the genotype ICSB 101 with lower NDF value and the genotype ICSB 89016 with higher digestible dry matter ratio can be recommended.
