    Characterization of Industrial Wastewater Discharged Into Egri Stream and Determination of Pollution Load

  • Abstract
    In this study, it was aimed to determine chracterization of Adıyaman Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB)’ s wastewater and its effects on Egri Stream. Withing the context of the study, in different seasons, composite wastewater sapmles were taken and analyzed. Conductivity, total dissolved substances/solids were maximum in October. Water of Egri Stream polluted by mixed industrial wastewater has a bad status water quality according to Water Quality Management Regulation. In the calculations, it was determined that both AOSB’s wastewater and Egri Stream have a hevay pollution load. Moreover, AOSB’s wastewater is much higher than the standard rates in terms of KOI, BOI5 and TP. Apart from these, it also contains heavy metal that can be considered as toxic. AOSB’s wastewater is a threatening factor for Egri Stream, local people and Atatürk Dam Lake. AOSB’s wastewater mainly consists of textile and food industry. In case precautions about discharge of these wastewaters are not taken, it will lead the water quality of Egri Stream and Atatürk Dam Lake to lose their feature of live aquatic ecosystem.
