The Determination of Weed Species on Kayseri – Sivas and Kayseri Yeşilhisar Railways

Railways have been enhancing rapidly in our country and because of this, some problems come out. Weeds growing especially on the railway line and near it cause some problems. This survey were conducted in 2015 with the purpose of the determination of the density, types and frequency occurrence of weeds causing some problems on the line of Kayseri- Sivas and Kayseri-Ankara in Turkish State Railways (TCDD). Some patterns gathered from the specific railway line after some inventories. Surveys conducted on 30 points in line of Kayseri-Sivas and on 12 points in Kayseri- Ankara. Result of this survey, it was identified 52 different types of weeds which belong to 23 families. While 15 of these weed types are perennial, 37 of those are annual plants.
