Abstract :
In this study, the synchronization of temperature oscillations in chambers due thermal interaction was experimentally invesitigated. The experimental facility consists of eight chambers arranged in a ring, each one of which can conduct heat to its neighbours on either side through separating walls. The temperature contol of each chambers were performed with individual thermostats and the temperature fluctations were regulated in the range of lower and upper limits provided by thermostats. The bulb goes off when the temperature rises above an upper limit, and comes on when it falls below a lower limit. Thus, the temperature contol was carried out thermostatically and the information is fed to a PC. Experiments were performed with three different heating powers and two different separator materials were used in order to seperate the chambers. The effect of initial conditions was also studied. The results showed that when the separators have high thermal conductivities, the frequencies of lambs were synchronized; however, the phases were different and phase differences were constant for each chamber.
