Title Of Article :
The Efficacy and Safety of 4.5 F Semirigid Ureterorenoscopy in the Treatment of Ureteral Stones in Prepubertal Children
Abstract :
Objective: In this study we aimed to evaluate the results of ureter stone treatment which was performed with 4.5 French (F) semi rigid ureterorenoscope in children younger than the ge of 12 years. Material and Methods: Between January 2014 and December 2018, 72 patients (36 females, 36 males) who underwent 4.5 F semirigid ureterorenoscopic treatment due to ureteral calculi were evaluated retrospectively. Demographic characteristics, gender, age, size and place of operation, duration of operation, stone-free rate, stent placement, hospital stay and possible complications were recorded. Results: The mean age of the patients was 7.8±3.2 years (1–12). The mean operation time was 49.7 minutes, and the mean duration of hospital stay was 1.8 days (1–4 days). While double j stents (DJ) were inserted in 8 patients due to no achievement of stone free status, and complete stone free status was achieved in 64 patients (88.9%). As a result of the study, there were no major complications observed and the minor complication rate was 16.6%. Conclusion: The use of 4.5 F semirigid ureterorenoscopy in combination with holmium laser in prepubertal children for the treatment of ureter stone is a safe and effective method.
