Abstract :
Contemporary period covers the last hundred years of music history. As happened in the previous periods, the spirit of that time day directs the fine arts. In this period, many currents have emerged. Impressionism, Expressionism, the new classicism, futurism, naturalism, principlism, varoşçuluk, as folklorism and jazz. Francis Poulenc, is one of the contemporary period composers, formed his style by being impressed by the neo-classic styles of Debussy and Igor Stravinsky who are among the first followers of impressionism movement. Impressionism is an art movement aiming to express the unrepeatable momentary side of actuality by relating the impression perceived. Francis Poulenc is one of the most popular composers of his century. His music is melodic, lyrical and emotionally expressive and is clearly in a tonal framework. His works flow elegantly and are the concrete samples of French delicacy. French Poulenc s Sonata for oboe and piano, which he wrote, is the work of a phrase rather than advice. The extraordinary structure of this sonata being in the form of slow-gradual-slow brings about an obscure conclusion result. As a descriptive analysis of biographical works, his own sexuality is clear that the center of the composition. As F.Poulenc’s homosexual life and art overcome the confion in his soul, he becomes an example of artist who produced a significant piece of art.
